Tips for Keeping Your Lawn Equipment Properly Maintained

A well cared for lawn. This spring-like weather has many of us looking forward to the warmer seasons and working on our properties. Here in PA, you can expect your grass will need to be cut sometime in March or early April, depending on the weather and temperature.

Before your cut your lawn for the first time, make sure your lawn mower, trimmer, blower, and other lawn maintenance equipment is ready and properly serviced.

Annual Tune-Up

The best way to protect your investment in your lawn equipment is to have an annual tune-up each winter or early spring. Regularly-scheduled maintenance by factory-certified repair technicians will extend the life of your equipment and is the best way to make sure your equipment is ready when you need it.

A seasonal tune-up of your mower, trimmer, or tractor includes:

  • Change the oil and filter (if applicable)
  • Replace spark plug
  • Change air and fuel filters if needed
  • Lube all joints and bearings that require grease
  • Inspect and adjust all belts and cables
  • Sharpen and balance the blade
  • Analyze and tighten all components to insure proper function
  • Replace any defective or worn parts
  • Testing equipment for proper running

When should I get my mower tuned up?

It is recommended that you have your mower and other lawn equipment serviced before you use it for the first time each season.  Many people only think about it a few days before their grass needs to be cut. By then, most mower repair shops have a 4-6 week backlog, leaving you without proper maintenance for a long period of time.   Once your mower gets into the shop, you are faced with a period of time during prime mowing season that you will be without it while it is being serviced.   Scheduling your seasonal tune-up in February will help to eliminate these issues.  To schedule your equipment service before the early spring rush, contact us today!
